This informative show provides students with test-taking tips which are helpful year-round and are specifically designed to help students "do their best" when taking tests. Often times educators make comments about how "...this show was perfect because it goes right along with what we have been telling them all year". We like to hear that because that is the goal of this program. We reiterate tips the teachers have shared throughout the year by putting a little "Morris Brothers Twist" to them. After going over tips throughout the show, we have a "TAKSBUSTER GAME SHOW" at the end. This gives student volunteers from the audience a chance to come up to show what they know, and at the same time, allows us to review all the concepts with everyone. We also leave behind a "Morris Brothers TAKSBUSTER Checklist" where each student can evaluate his/her own readiness for the test. Obviously, these are skills that will help on any test, not just the TAKS. This show can be right before a testing date (more of a pep rally at that time), or several weeks/months before. Ideally, we do these shows beginning in January and through the April test dates. If you have an early TAKS show, (prior to two weeks before a test date), we focus more on preparation for the test. After reviewing their score on the TAKSBUSTER Checklist, students can focus in on where he/she needs improvement. This gives some time to start practicing good test taking skills. We also offer "Post TAKS" celebrations.
